Julie & Julia

Title: Julie & Julie

Genres: Comedy, Adaptation
Running Time: 1 hour. X minutes

Review: It is the story of Julia Child that dazzles in this film. Amy Adams, and the food-blogging Julie she portrays, which is the entry to the whole film, still gets completely swallowed up in the shadow of Ms. Streep without as much as a tiny ripple on the surface to tell the tale of her disappearance. Something not that surprising when Meryl Streep is involved, I will admit. The smart thing to do would have been to just make a wonderful movie about Julia Child, and skip the whole future-despairing nobody act of Ms. Adams, but alas, we're in no such luck. Still, a film worth seeing, if for no other reason that a nice dose of Streep.

Grade: 6.5

  1. So I thought you hadn't been to the movies lately. Which, understandable. Then tonight I get 15 reviews in my reader!

I'll say I agree with you ALMOST entirely on this one - I do usually like Amy Adams. But I found Julie to be completely unlikable and I was just waiting for her to get off-screen so we could go back to Meryl and Julia.
